Event Descrition

The intent of this course is to teach the student the use of the shotgun in close-range, high-speed scenarios as encountered in self-defense and hunting situations. The emphasis of the course will be on the rapid employment of the shotgun while maximizing the use of cover.
Subjects Covered:

•Firearms safety as it pertains to self-defense
•The basics of shoulder firing: stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger press, follow through
•Mounting of the shotgun from the ready and carry/slung positions
•Proper manipulation of the slide action
•Speed reloading, tactical reloading, malfunction drills
•Rapid multiple shots on single targets, rapid engagement of multiple targets
•Rapid assumption of shooting positions like offhand, prone, and kneeling
•Transitioning to slugs, transitioning to handgun
•Weak hand operation, one handed operation, and weapons retention
•Use of cover and concealment
•Patterning of the student's shotgun with defensive loads
•Legalities concerning use of deadly force
•Shotgun types and modifications
•Ballistics as it pertains to the shotgun
•Carry systems and accessories
